Things have been pretty much insane lately. (Does it feel like I say that alot??) I had to hire an attorney to deal with the whole mess here at our rental. We did not get the other house up the street, so I've been on a desperate search to find another house we can rent in our ward. And inbetween, Ava had her birthday and we had July 4th!
Ava opened her presents first thing in the morning on her birthday (Wed). Afterwards, she went out to the back patio where Josh and Delaney surprised her with a shower of pink flower petals, and Sadie gave her a bowl of roly polies and a slug. Doesn't get much better than that, does it?? :-D
That evening we went to the neighborhood park with our neighbor and her two kids for some cupcakes and frolicking.
Friday (July 4th) we were invited to a shindig at a neighbor's house from church. They have a really huge backyard with all of the "necessities" -- playscape, outdoor kitchen, tennis court, basketball hoop, and swimming pool. Of course, the kids had a blast. Then we left to go crash another friend's house to see fireworks. They live at the top of a hill, and you could see all of the different communities' fireworks from their street. Pretty neat-o.
One of Ava's presents was her very own American Girl doll (that mom bought used on eBay!), but it took a while to come so she didn't get it until yesterday. She was VERY surprised and delighted to say the least!
For Ava's birthday, Grandma sent over mermaid outfits that she made for everybody's American Girl dolls (you can see the idea here). The girls were very happy.
Saturday evening we hung at the beach. First up was some crab hunting, then some boogie board action (you can see Ryan trying to persuade Sadie to give it a try, but she was not having it!).
(On a side note, I got the girls these swim tops and shorts from Land's End, and we LOVE them. They're very modest without being too dorky, and the shorts have a regular swimsuit panty lining. They dry really fast, so we can get it wet and then wear it to the store after without it being weird. Highly recommend!)
We miss our peeps back in Austin a lot -- 4th of July wasn't the same without you! (We missed the usual staking out the SWT parking lot to see the fireworks. . . ) Pray for us to find another house soon; we're going to try to move out this Saturday.
Insane would be the right word to describe the house mess. A lawyer? Wow. Things must have escalated to a whole new level, I guess. Ava's b-day party petals were a cute idea! Looks like your 4th was a good one. I'm glad you mentioned where you got the girls' swim fashions...the first thing I thought was "I really like the beach duds the girls are sportin'! I bet Jess found those online somewhere!" We miss y'all too! I was helping Taryn make a birthday party invitation list the other day and we both kept forgetting Sadie and Delaney don't live just right down the street anymore. :( At least for now. We'll still see you in August, right?
