OK -- scratch all of that stuff I said before! My new health goal for 2008:
Keep our hospital stays to a minimum, and no more ER visits or ambulance rides.
That might be more manageable.......
I'm going to be shaking things up a bit at our house in 2008. I will document my trial and error with our quest to better health for you, my loyal reader(s). ;-)
We will be going semi-organic. I already buy organic milk, to avoid the hormones and antibiotics in regular milk. My hubby is not too excited about paying $5+/gallon and so when he buys the milk, we're back to our usual. At least our usual milk is hormone-free, so I don't make a big deal. My favorite organic milk is the HEB/Central Market store brand; we've had some funny tastes with the Borden. I haven't bought the Horizon brand yet, since it's the most pricey. One of the reasons that the price is such a big deal is that we can go through a gallon of milk a day. I'm actually planning to try to wean people off of the milk a little more around here (at the request of Sadie's hematologist) and get our calcium in other places as well.
I think part of our problem also is that we are eating too much, as the stuff we eat, generally speaking, isn't all that bad. I usually use low-fat substitutes, although I have developed a taste for butter over margarine, which could add a pound or two I suppose. I also prefer to cook from scratch, so we don't eat THAT much overly processed food.
I hope to lose about 20 pounds, and will be doing Weight Watchers again, starting in January.
My BEFORE picture, from Christmas 2007:
I plan on my AFTER picture looking more like this.
